Kepivance® is a recombinant form of human keratinocyte growth factor (KGF). The potential mechanisms of Kepivance® during the 5 phases of oral mucositis include1-7:
  • Inducing cell proliferation, increasing epithelial thickness, and upregulating cytoprotective mechanisms before myelotoxic therapy.
  • Reducing DNA damage.
  • Increasing the levels of detoxifying enzymes to protect against
    reactive oxygen species (ROS).
  • Decreasing levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines.
  • Decreasing apoptosis.
As a result, ulceration and pain are reduced.
